Gerald Karlic Aiming for Second Final Table of EPT Prague in €3,000 Mystery Bounty

Gerald Karlic
Gerald Karlic

Most people like surprises, and you'd be hard pressed to find a poker player who doesn't enjoy the thrill of pulling a mystery bounty envelope.

With late registration still open until the start of Day 2, 184 players will return to Hilton Prague today, December 12, at 12:30 p.m. local time for Day 2 of the €3,000 Mystery Bounty at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague.

The returning players navigated a Day 1 field of 716 entrants, which generated a current prize pool of €1,228,656, although those numbers are expected to increase further before registration closes.

They are led by Mats Ullereng of Norway (410,000), the only player to bag over 400,000, followed by Candido Cappiello of Italy (377,000), while Gerald Karlic of Austria (360,500) sits in third.

Karlic is seeking his second final table of the festival, having finished runner-up in the Eureka Main Event for €327,390. Ullereng is seeking his second EPT title of the year, having taken victory in a €1,100 buy-in event at EPT Paris for €144,520 earlier this year.

PokerStars Ambassadors Marle Spragg and Simon Wiciak fired a bullet each but did not find a bag, and will have to consider whether to take advantage of Day 2 late registration.

Notables who remain in the mix include Michel Molenaar (291,000), Tom Middleton (244,500) and Robin Ylitalo (210,500).

Players will return to blind Level 13 with blinds of 1,000/2,000, with a 2,000 big blind ante. Bounties will come into play at Level 15, and it is expected at least fourteen 40-minute levels will be played on Day 2 to whittle the field down for the final day.

Prize pool, payout and bounty information will be confirmed after late registration closes.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for all your coverage to see who can bag the biggest bounties and navigate their way to Day 3.

Patrick Kallas was all-in for around 35,000 having check-jammed on A43 versus a continuation bet from Will Kassouf.

Patrick El Kallas: AJ All in
William Kassouf: 33

Kallas was in trouble with top pair versus Kassouf's bottom set, and Kassouf improved to a full house on the 4 turn. The K river did not bring the ace El Kallas required to survive.

Martin Finger

Around 50,000 was in the middle on a board of 10927 in a hand between Martin Finger under the gun, and Albertus Stegeman in the small blind.

Stegeman led out with a bet of 31,000, and FInger called.

The K river was checked through. Stegeman showed 99 for a set of nines and Finger mucked with frustration saying "This is sick, how many sets are you going to hit against me!"

Wang Bags Chip Lead and Two Bounties in Four-Way All-In

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Lei Wang
Lei Wang

Action was picked up when cards were on their backs, where it appeared bounty hunting had caused a bit of carnage.

It appears likely Lei Wang opened in early position, Dean Hutchison called in middle position, Markus Sturz three-bet jammed for 150,000, and was followed by the shorter stack of Theodoros Ampelikiotis of 90,000. Wang likely reshoved for 280,000, and Hutchison called with a stack covering all players.

Theodoros Ampelikiotis: AJ All in
Markus Sturz: JJ All in
Lei Wang: AA All in
Dean Hutchison: KQ

Wang had his opponents crushed, and the 9953K runout provided no surprises. Sturz and Ampelikiotis exited and Hutchison sustained substantial damage to his stack.

Pascetnic Busts Gajdos

Level 17 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Marcin Kacprzak opened to 10,000 from middle position, and received a call from Ben Miller, before Victor Pascetnic produced a three-bet to 30,000 from the button.

Petr Gajdos moved all in from the big blind for 33,000, and all three players called.

On the J72 flop, action was checked to Pascetnic, who jammed for around 250,000, forcing folds from the still active players.

Petr Gajdos: KK All in
Victor Pascetnic: AA

Gajdos had run kings into aces, and smiled when he saw the cards. The 29 turn and river confirmed his exit.

Gebissa Busts O'Leary on Bubble

Level 17 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Around 43,000 was in the middle on a board of AJ66, in a hand between Joshua Gebissa and Jay O'Leary.

Gebissa fired out a bet of 38,000, and O'Leary jammed for 92,000, with Gebissa making the snap-call.

Jay O'Leary: A10 All in
Joshua Gebissa: 65

O'Leary had been good on the flop with a pair of aces, but Gebissa had turned the trip sixes to leave O'Leary drawing extremely thin. No ace arrived on the 2 river and O'Leary was the unfortunate bubble boy.

All players are now guaranteed a minimum cash of €3,100.

Heinich Takes Four-Bet Pot

Level 19 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Vladimir Heinich opened to 16,000 from early position, and received a call from Victor-Dan Angelescu on the button, before Hoang Phan produced a three-bet to 55,000 from the big blind. Heinich pumped it up further to 110,000, Angelscu got out of the way, and Phan called.

On the Q32 flop, Phan check-called a bet of 55,000 from Heinich.

The A turn and 5 river were checked through. Phan tabled 99 for a pair of nines, but Heinich had KK for a pair of kings.
