Santerne’s Still In the Mix for Third EPT Super High Roller Title This Year

Thomas Santerne

The PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague at the Hilton Prague continues today with the conclusion of the third Super High Roller tournament of the series; the €25,000 Super High Roller Second Chance. A total field of nine was amassed by the end of the night, but with registration still open until the start of play on Day 2, this number is only expected to grow with seven players returning at the start of the day.

Markkos Ladev comes into the start of play with the overall chip lead having converted his starting stack of 250,000 into a final sum of 687,000.

Yesterday’s action saw Ladev take the chip lead in a matter of hands: although Derk van Luijk believed he’d found the dream flop, having made trips, he was only two streets away from finding out Ladev’s pocket pair had also flopped a full house.

Ladev retained this early momentum, ending the day exactly how he started it - the chip leader.

Santern Hero Calls

Level 12 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Thomas Santerne
Thomas Santerne

Markkos Ladev opened from under the gun, but saw Thomas Santerne in the big blind three-bet to 100,000. Ladev made the call.

Both players checked the 3Q2 flop leading to the 4 turn where Santerne bet 110,000. Ladev called.

The J river landed on the felt and Santerne needed extra time to check. Ladev took this opportunity bet 250,000, more than Santerne's 231,000-chip stack.

The French player went deep into the tank, but after he used his last two time bank cards, he called.

Markkos Ladev: A10

Santerne called with top pair and caught Ladev with only ace-high, so he doubled up.
